What we keep, and what we do not
Hacer Aldea has no visitor accounts. You can read the whole atlas, open the map, search and share without registering and without us knowing who you are.
Accounts exist only for the people who keep an entry and for curation. If you claim a place we keep your email and name so we can write to you about that entry.
Locations
A place’s exact coordinates live in a table nobody outside curation and the people who keep that entry can read. What gets published is a derived point: exact only where the keepers asked for that; otherwise blurred to about a kilometre, moved to the region centre, or absent entirely. The database performs that transformation, not the application, so no code path can skip it.
Photographs are re-encoded before storage, which strips EXIF data — including the GPS tag many cameras and phones attach.
Contacts on the needs board
Phone numbers and emails on the Collaborate board are not in the page source. They appear only when someone taps to reveal them, and that request passes through a rate limit. It is not an impassable barrier, but it does stop bulk harvesting.
Measurement
We count how many views, WhatsApp taps, directions taps and shares each entry gets, per day. We do not store IP addresses: to avoid counting the same reload twice we use a derived in-memory identifier that discards itself. Those numbers go to the people who keep the entry, and nobody else.
Site-wide we use Plausible, which sets no cookies and does not follow anyone between sites.
Seeded entries
Many entries we wrote ourselves from public sources before speaking to the people who keep the place. They are marked “seeded entry”. If it is yours you can claim it and edit it; if you would rather it did not exist, use the report button and we will take it down.
Entries for people working on their own are published with no contact details and noindexed until their owner claims them.
Deleting
Write to us and we will remove your entry, your account, or both. Suggestions and rejected claims are purged after ninety days.
